Flandrew Fleisenberg and Jesse Collins

Flandrew Fleisenberg plays percussion on an assortment of everyday ephemera and modified drum parts that he has reduced and eroded through a process of playing and breaking them. A graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston with a focus in conceptual art, he is musically self-taught and has developed a cadre of idiosyncratic techniques that are all his own. Flandrew has been involved in the improvised and creative music community since 2001 performing solo, in ad-hoc improv groupings and in set projects. http://lifeoffleisenberg.blogspot.com/

Spending the past couple of years playing in improvised groups around Boston, Jesse Kenas Collins has come to value both the sonic and social importance of such work. For the sake of mobility he has dedicated this last year to playing cornet, a reconnection with his first instrument. What began out of convenience has led to a new personal vocabulary on the horn, guided by use of reed attachments. http://www.kenascollins.com/

SIRIUS QUARTET/FLANDREW FLEISENBERG/VALERIE KUEHNE SELLS OUT

Born and bred in the downtown scene of New York City, the Sirius Quartet blends the precision of classical music with the energy of a rock band. The four conservatory-trained musicians are also highly skilled improvisers. Whether playing acoustically or with electronic effects they push beyond the conventional sonic vocabulary associated with string instruments. From Lincoln Center and the Köln Triennale to the Knitting Factory and CBGB’s the Sirius makes itself at home in a wide range of venues and musical styles. http://www.siriusquartet.com/

duonight

A night of duo musical performances at Panoply Performance Laboratory: Men Are Just Desserts

Men Are Just Desserts is a semi-spontaneous series of bromantic one-night flings. Bassist and tuba player Jason Anastasoff creates duos with some of the hottest men in the improvising music scene, which have included Devin Gray, Sean Ali, Nathaniel Morgan, Peter Hanson and Dave Ruder in the past (and possibly the future if they play their cards right).
